Covid-19 - Family court hearing

What’s Happened to My Family Court Hearing?

Covid-19: What’s happened to my family court hearing?

In the last week the court has adjourned many family court hearings and has not provided new dates.

This is very worrying for families.

Families need the court’s help, often urgently, with child arrangements, family finances and urgent injunctions.

Family Court Service

The family court service is a huge and complex system.

Like many businesses it has staff, including judges, off sick and self-isolating. It also has to make arrangements for remote working and remote court hearings. This is a huge undertaking and involves new law being passed.

The family team at Kerseys want to reassure you, your court hearing will take place. It might be on the telephone or by a video.

In deciding what method to use the court will take into account if you are acting in person without a solicitor, or are at home with children.
