Furlough - September Update

September Furlough Update

September Furlough Update

From the beginning of September the government furlough scheme was reduced to 70 per cent of wages with a cap of £2,187.50 a month for the hours an employee is on furlough.

Employers will need to pay national insurance and pension contributions and top up an employee’s wages by 10% to ensure that they receive at least 80% of their wages capped at £2,500 for the time they are furloughed.

In October, which will be the final month of the scheme, the government’s contribution will reduce to 60% of an employee’s wages up to a cap of £1,875.00 for the hours an employee is on furlough.

The government has confirmed that for the time being there is no plan to extend the furlough Scheme beyond the end of October.
